Travelling to the 'Paris' of the middle east - buzzing Beirut - to play an exclusive event f
It's not often you get the opportunity to travel to Lebanon for a gig so when the band were invited to travel from London to perform in Beirut for an exclusive party launching Macallan Whiskey in the country, we were pretty excited!
We were flown to Beirut the day before and were treated to a wonderful meal by our host for the trip - Faddy - who took us to some of Beirut's best restaurant and bars and insisted on buying us a number of cocktails. After a long day travelling from London to Beirut, we were happy to get back to the hotel and rest for our gig the following day.
We had our own personal driver with minibus who took us to the venue for soundcheck, after stopping for a local breakfast near to the hotel of sugar coated fried cheese dipped in a large sesame bap. The venue was being lavishly decorated for the arrival of 700 guests that evening and we played in a stage surrounded by a replica house depicting Easter Elchies House - a fine Highland manor house on the Macallan estate.
We performed three sets to packed room full of the best of Beirut's bar and restaurant industry, alongside fantastic classical violinist Sally Potterton, who played 15 minute segments in-between our performances. We'd like to thank Macallan whiskey for having us (and for the bottle of 15 year aged whiskey) and to Faddy for looking after us so well while we were there!
